I am an artist and writer based between London and New York. I work primarily in drawing, using both traditional materials like graphite or ink on paper as well as curved metal, carved wood, ordered objects, and dissected language as forms of expanded mark-making. I am broadly interested in the relationship between aesthetics and politics: repetition, erasure, and negative space allow formal relationships to emerge between disparate symbolic systems, while beauty, metaphor, and absence become frameworks for interfacing with contentious and contingent pasts. Through a research-based and interdisciplinary process rooted in the language of drawing, I aim to unpack how history and national mythologies are aesthetically constructed and symbolically marked, ultimately seeking the flaws, loopholes, and exclusions in systems of control.
a Wayaka Current (Atacama Desert, Chile), and the Ragdale Foundation (Lake Forest, IL).
